Red Cell appoints global chief operating officer
28 January, 2004
Red Cell, one of WPP's global advertising networks, has named Laurence Mellman to the newly created post of global Chief Operating Officer. Mellman joins Red Cell from the parent company where he has worked for the past eight years in a number of senior financial and operational roles, ultimately as Chief Operating Officer, International Specialist Communications. Mellman assumes his position immediately. Mellman will collaborate closely with Red Cell's chairman and chief executive officer Andy Berlin to strengthen and continue to grow Red Cell.
"Red Cell is a unique concept in agency networks and a person with Laurence's very senior operational skills will greatly enhance our ability to focus on clients and growth," said Berlin. "Because Laurence comes from the senior ranks of WPP, he has deep knowledge of Red Cell that will make the transition easier."
"I'm looking forward to partnering with Andy," said Mellman. "The Red Cell approach is new and different and I will enjoy working with the team there to strengthen the business."
