J. Walter Thompson & Syzygy agree European eBusiness solutions deal
13 September, 2000
J. Walter Thompson, the global brand communications company, and Syzygy AG, the eBusiness solutions provider, today announced that they are to enter into a preferred partnership across Europe.
The partnership combines Syzygy's eBusiness expertise with Digital@JWT's online marketing and media strategies, user interface and experience development alongside J. Walter Thompson's brand and communications expertise. Under one roof, this will provide comprehensive and integrated cross-media eBusiness solutions to maximise exposure, increase effectiveness and reduce time-to-market.
The deal sees Syzygy become JWT Europe's exclusive partner for pan-European eBusiness solutions for its clients. Exclusivity refers to France, Germany, the UK and Ireland - markets where both companies already have a presence and where cross-functional teams are already being established.
In addition, JWT will support Syzygy in its expansion across Europe through shared offices. Both companies will share a strategic, developmental and execution methodology on client projects that will provide a fully integrated and consistent level of service across the region.
The deal also sees the establishment of shared Usability R&D, which will build on existing expertise in both companies to investigate and establish user experience best practice, for new and developing channels. Initially centred in London, both companies will roll out this common R&D offer across Europe soon after.
The alliance formalises and extends an existing relationship developed over the past three years, which has seen the two firms collaborate on pan-European eBusiness and marketing projects for Mazda, Siemens and others.
According to Syzygy CEO Chris Robson, 'This best of breed partnership will enable client companies to deliver multi-channel, customer-centric eBusiness solutions across Europe.'
'The market is ready for this offer. Business now sees Europe as an increasingly integrated and dynamic market, and many leading blue-chips and new economy players are actively devising and implementing pan-European eBusiness solutions to break into new markets or gain competitive advantage,' he added.
David King, MD of Digital@JWT Europe, Middle East and Africa says, 'The operational partnership being created with Syzygy will, we believe, effectively end the all too frequent disconnect clients suffer between brand, online experience and business results. Our aim is to help our clients deliver on the promise of digital media for the long term.'
Michael Maedel, CEO of JWT Europe and Syzygy AG Chairman, believes the relationship will put both companies at the forefront of future development in the industry. 'As the digital marketplace matures it forces any number of changes on the world of traditional advertising. This combination of strengths will ensure a leadership position for us going forward. It brings a new and much needed change in perspective to the way we satisfy our clients needs.’
