WPP

Environment

Reducing our impact on the environment is a priority. Our target is to reduce carbon emissions per person to 1.2 tonnes by 2020, a 63% reduction from our 2006 baseline. We are also focusing on reducing waste and managing water use in regions of water scarcity. We look for opportunities to purchase more sustainable goods and services, and to work with suppliers who meet high environmental standards.

Improving our environmental performance benefits the planet and our business by helping us reduce costs and respond efficiently to new regulations. Taking action on our carbon footprint enhances our credibility with clients and prospective clients and supports our work as communications advisors on environmental issues. It also helps us recruit and retain environmentally aware graduate talent.

Our environmental policy

WPP's environmental policy is included in the Group's sustainability Policy. It states the following objectives:

"WPP companies will respect the environment by minimising their impact from energy use, transport, consumption of paper and other resources and managing any significant sustainability risks in our supply chains".

The sustainability policy is reviewed on an annual basis by the Sustainability Committee.
