  • GroupM, Univeral Music launch BrandAmp
    GroupM has formed a joint venture with Universal Music to develop music and brand partnerships for clients, and providing marketers with direct access to UM’s expertise, resources and catalogues
  • G2 acquires M/D/S Boole in Spain
    Activation marketing specialist G2 has acquired 70% of Spanish data and analytics firm M/D/S Boole. Based in Madrid, the firm’s clients include BAT, Nokia, Diageo, SEAT and Vodafone
  • Lightspeed acquires Forrester consumer panel
    Lightspeed Research, Kantar’s global online research company, has acquired Forrester’s Ultimate Consumer Panel, enabling clients in-depth insights on financial services consumers’ behaviour
  • Mediaedge:cia, Bravo launch Hispanic media specialist
    WPP media specialist Mediaedge:cia and Hispanic marketing firm The Bravo Group have formed MEC Bravo, a dedicated Hispanic media communications division
  • VML, Crisp Wireless join forces on mobile ad solutions
    WPP interactive agency VML and mobile solutions provider Crisp Wireless will together develop mobile advertising solutions across mobile WAP sites; mobile content storefronts, mobile messaging, and opt-in promotions


New business
  • Ogilvy & Mather has won Unilever’s Hellmann Mayonnaise creative account across Europe. O&M already handles the account in other markets, including North America
  • Shell Lubricants North America has hired G2 to handle its promotions, direct marketing, branding and design
  • Masterfoods has appointed United London to handle its Tracker bar account
  • Hill & Knowlton has been appointed advisor to the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Committee; it has also been named official communications advisor to Pyeongchang in South Korea in its bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics
  • GCI London has been selected by satellite navigation brand Garmin to co-ordinate a pan-European consumer and corporate campaign


People
  • Piyush Pandey, Chairman and National Creative Director of Ogilvy & Mather India, has been elected to Ogilvy’s Worldwide Board. Ogilvy Group UK Chairman and CEO Gary Leih also joins the Board
  • Toby Hoare is to run JWT EMEA, while EMEA CEO and President Michael Maedel moves to Asia to run the network’s fast expanding operations in the region
  • MindShare has hired Simon Andrews as its first Digital Chief Strategy Officer. Andrews was formerly head of Big Picture Advertising
  • Anna Maria DeSalva joins Hill & Knowlton as head of its global healthcare practice, most recently having directed GCI Group’s healthcare practice


Awards
  • PR firm Hill and Knowlton has been named Europe's Best Multinational Agency to Work For by the Holmes Report in its annual survey. Fellow WPP companies Burson-Marsteller rated second and Cohn & Wolfe third
  • Grey EMEA was named Agency Network of the Year at the EAC Euro EFFIE Awards for communications effectiveness, the first time that an agency has landed the award twice
  • Addison Corporate Marketing scooped Titanium for design agency with the greatest percentage of wins at this year’s ARC Awards for excellence in corporate communications
  • Rediffusion DY&R has been named Agency of the Year at the annual Delhi Ad Club Awards
  • Ogilvy & Mather UK won a North American EFFIE Grand Prix for its much acclaimed Dove campaign
  • MediaCom Scotland has been named Business of the Year in Scotland. The agency won the same accolade in 2005
  • VML took home seven Standard of Excellence WebAwards in the Web Marketing Association’s 2006 WebAward Competition, in addition to one Outstanding Website Award
