  • Public Strategies, Inc joins WPP
    Texas-based public affairs firm Public Strategies has joined WPP. The firm, which specializes in managing high-stakes campaigns for corporate clients, employs 175 people in 17 offices across the US, Mexico and the UK
  • Grey Healthcare acquires search marketing specialist Catalyst
    Grey Healthcare has acquired Catalyst on-line, a specialized advertising, marketing, and consulting firm expert in search marketing. Based in Boston, Catalyst clients include Biogen Idec, Novartis and Pfizer
  • WPP, LiveWorld announce online networking joint venture
    WPP and online community specialist LiveWorld are forming LiveWorld-WPP, a joint venture to provide online social networking solutions to WPP clients across the world
  • Interactive firm ZAAZ joins Wunderman
    Seattle-based web design and analytics agency ZAAZ has joined WPP direct marketing network Wunderman. ZAAZ clients include Microsoft, Converse, E*Trade, Qwest, Intel, Alcoa, Blockbuster, Expedia and Reuters
  • Hill & Knowlton acquires Canadian communications firm Result Inc
    Public relations firm Hill & Knowlton has acquired Calgary-based corporate communications consultancy Result Inc., creating a new H&K division specializing in financial communications products


New business
  • Mediaedge:cia is to manage IKEA's media planning and buying across the US. The WPP agency already handles IKEA in 14 other countries, including China, Japan and Russia
  • PC maker Dell has appointed Wunderman Argentina to manage its database management in Brazil, extending its current remit in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Puerto Rico and Argentina
  • MediaCom has been awarded media planning and buying duties for financial services company Prudential, including subsidiaries Egg and M&G Investments
  • TNK Retail have appointed Landor to work on its brand strategy, retail forecourt and convenience store design. Landor are also to look at packaging design for TNK Lubricants
  • Healthcare company Novo Nordsk has appointed Ogilvy Healthworld Brazil as its new advertising agency for its insulin delivery systems


People
  • Mandy Pooler and Lucy Gill have joined Kantar as Development Directors to drive Kantar's client and offer agenda. Both are based in London
  • Grey Global Group/China & Hong Kong has promoted Naveen Rao to National Planning Director, having been Planning Director at Grey Shanghai
  • Former US Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta joins Hill & Knowlton US as Vice Chairman, based in the firm's Washington DC office
  • Charlie Wrench has been promoted to President and CEO of design agency Landor Associates, with Phil Duncan made President, EMEA
  • Ogilvy & Mather London has appointed Guy Lambert as Managing Director, having managed sister agency OgilvyOne in the UK

  • Graduate websites for Shell and PricewaterhouseCoopers by JWT Specialised Communications London have been recognised by the UK's Web Marketing Association and National Graduate Recruitment Awards
  • Polo Garza, President and CEO of Ogilvy Group Mexico has been named one of the country's 300 most influential leaders. His agency has been ranked No.1 by trade magazine Merca 2.0
  • Grey EMEA agencies took home four out of nine awards at the P&G regional Business Building Awards for Central and Eastern Europe and Middle East & Africa
  • MindShare dominated the Asian Effectiveness Awards in Hong Kong with six awards.

The winners of WPP's Atticus Awards, the Group's annual internal 'professional oscars' have been announced. The winner was Erik du Plessis for his book The Advertised Mind, a study on how our brains respond to advertising.

Viewpoint
The tenth issue of Ogilvy's Viewpoint turns up the volume on digital marketing, addressing behavioural targeting, branded content, digitisation across Latin America and wireless billboards.
