WPP acquires 49% stake in The Jupiter Drawing Room, a top creative advertising agency group in South Africa

WPP has agreed to acquire a 49% stake in The Jupiter Drawing Room, subject to regulatory approvals. The Jupiter Drawing Room is South Africa's leading creative agency group. With offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, The Jupiter Drawing Room specialises in beyond-the-line communications services. Key clients include ABSA, Edcon, Hyundai, MTN and Sasol.

WPP acquires Red Dot Square Solutions, an inventive virtual reality research company

WPP has acquired Red Dot Square Solutions, a leading virtual reality research company which helps retailers and manufacturers to better predict consumer behaviour in-store. This acquisition was negotiated ahead of WPP's acquisition of TNS, the global market and insight information group. The use of intelligent, real-time store simulation technologies to conduct market research is becoming common practice among consumer product manufacturers and retailers. Red Dot Square's clients include Safeway, Tesco, Walgreens and Wal-Mart, working in collaboration with global marketers such as General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, Kraft, MillerCoors, Sara Lee and Unilever.

WPP acquires 20% of Smart Media in Vietnam

WPP has agreed to subscribe for a 20% stake in Smart Media, a marketing and communications company in Vietnam, subject to regulatory approvals. SMJ was established in February 2008 by its founding shareholders (who include Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company and Vietnam Television Station) to provide a broad range of marketing, communications and multimedia services in Vietnam with a focus on advertising, TV production, internet and mobile services, and digital content. SMJ has operations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and employs 30 people. SMJ's key clients include Mobifone, Vietnam Mobile, Vinaphone, VNPost and VNPT.

WPP and Omniture launch partnership to improve marketing ROI

WPP and Omniture, Inc., the leading provider of online business optimization, have formed a strategic partnership that will provide clients with more-effective insights globally across both digital and traditional media channels. As part of this partnership, WPP is making a long-term $25 million investment in Omniture common stock. The two companies will collaborate on technology development, on sharing data and information and in consulting services. WPP companies involved in this partnership include G2, OgilvyOne, RMG, Wunderman, Enfatico, specialist agencies Schematic, VML and ZAAZ, Group M, 24/7 Real Media, Kantar and Bridge Worldwide.

VML and Y&R Create Global Digital Partnership

VML and Y&R, both WPP companies, have announced a global digital alliance. VML will lead Y&R's digital practice in North America, working with Y&R offices in New York, Chicago, Toronto and San Francisco. The digital partnership will also be replicated for select Y&R clients across Europe and Asia. Matt Anthony adds Chief Global Digital Officer of Y&R to his current role as VML CEO. The New York combined digital team will operate as VML/Y&R; VML's Jim Radosevic will serve as Managing Director.
